One of the best things about internet poker is that you can meet a great deal of people who all share the same passion for playing poker. Whether you play just for fun or to try and win some extra cash you can be sure to have a great time in an internet poker room.

Most rooms will have a chat function available at each table, this means you can instantly talk to people from around the world who you are up against. If you are not interested in talking you can often close the chat window to prevent anybody talking to you but you never know who you will meet!

Its also fairly common to see some of the professional poker players hanging around internet poker rooms, even on the small stakes. Keep an eye out on your competitions usernames as you may run into a professional and have the chance to play against them.

This brings me onto a useful tip about remembering who you are playing and why you can use it to your advantage. Lets say you were playing a game a few days ago with someone called Mr X, the more you play someone the better idea you get of their strategies so you often become able to read people and predict the outcome. So, you logon a few days later and notice that one of your opponents is Mr X, have a quick think to how they were playing the last time you were against them more than likely they will play exactly the same (providing its not a different person on the same account) so you have a good advantage over everyone else at the table.

Obviously you cant memorize every persons strategies you play against but it does help in the long run if you seem to be playing against the same people, perhaps due to your time zone etc.
